Architecture and Interior Design

An efficient ground floor extension to add garden facing reception and dining spaces. The project avoided work to the main house and kitchen and instead concentrated on adding a simple box with character.

We brought an industrial aesthetic to the extension aiming to create a mini warehouse. The brickwork patterns reference the urban warehouses in Berlin that use basic bricks to add visual depth.

For the interior the ceiling with exposed structure and careful detailing showcases the simple craftsmanship of its construction and provides the space with a strong structural presence. The ceiling is offset with softer timber and plaster finishes to result in a well balanced room.

Generous window openings and rooflights heighten the proximity of the outside, further enhancing the relationship between the building and its garden setting.
